Conservation Efforts

Lewa Wildlife Conservancy Event

The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens' Animal Program is hosting a rhino conservation fundraiser for Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya, Africa.  The speaker will be Daniel Kasoo, who represents the Conservancy.  He is a former field ranger and is currently a guide.  This event is part of a speaking tour that's being hosted by various zoos across the nation to raise funds for the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. 

Date:  September 21, 2006
Time: 7:00 p.m.
Where: Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens (at Shaba Terrace, above Main Camp)
Cost: $5.00 per person

All proceeds will go to the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy to be used primarily for the preservation of the rhino population.  AAZK is sponsoring the event and light refreshments will be served.  Those who attend will learn why rhinos are important, what the Conservancy is doing to protect them, and what the Conservancy does to helps zoo across the world, including the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens.
