October 20, 2006, Jacksonville, Florida--The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens has received a $5,000 gift from the Food Lion Charitable Foundation. The gift will be used to support the Educational Guides in the new interactive children’s area, Play Park.

“We appreciate Food Lion’s gift to the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens.  It is commendable that Food Lion supports local organizations in the areas where they are located.”  said Diane David, Director of Development.

Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens’ mission is to foster understanding of the interaction of people, wildlife, and their environment by creating experiences that engage our guests, providing fun and innovative educational opportunities, funding operations, expansion and programs through an entrepreneurial spirit with public and private partnerships, and instilling passion in the next generation as responsible stewards of the future.
